snail trail woes

ugh. i know vaginal discharge is normal and the vagina is a wonderful self cleaning entity but damn discharge, you need to stop. i feel like i am constantly leaking. escpecially when i run (i am a flood gate). and am so annoyed. i would never use a tampon or anything to catch the leakage. and when i used panty liners they gave me what i can only liken to an adult form of diaper rash. blech.

just venting.

What about using cloth pads (small thin ones)?
jamievulva 27th-Mar-2006 06:59 pm (UTC)
thats exctly what i was thinking.
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 02:53 pm (UTC)
seems like it'd be bulky? i dunno. perhaps i will look into that.
geminigirl 27th-Mar-2006 06:45 pm (UTC)
You might want to look into cloth pads, which may not cause the same kind of irritation.
svilleficrecs 27th-Mar-2006 06:52 pm (UTC)
If you discharge a lot all cycle (not just during ovulation), I'd maybe run by the doctor and see if you have some low level bacterial infection. They're more common than you think, often mistaken for yeast infections, and often very quick to clear up. Doesn't have to be an STD...just random stuff off in your hooha.
kaelstra 27th-Mar-2006 10:08 pm (UTC)
Eh, some women just discharge a lot, unfortunatley. I'm positive mine is a side effect of my birth control. I've asked my doctor about it (but obviously I am not the OP here) and she said it was a normal side effect. :/
reeling 28th-Mar-2006 12:09 am (UTC)
What BC are you on, if you don't mind me asking?
frolicnaked 28th-Mar-2006 05:09 am (UTC)
Agreed. Mine's not a side effect of HBC, but I could, if I wanted to, probably use a couple of pantyliners each day. I've actually found out that it "airs out" better if I don't bother with the liners, though.
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 03:02 pm (UTC)
i thought it might've been a BC side effect but i've been on the same brand for 4 years. and switched to a higher dosage about 1 year ago. my excess discharge has been a slowly gradual, building thing. but i'm on ovcon 50 if it matters.
aprilstarchild 28th-Mar-2006 03:26 am (UTC)
I just discharge a lot, I always have and probably always will. I tell myself it means my vagina is really clean, seeing as it's always washing itself. :^)
svilleficrecs 28th-Mar-2006 04:28 am (UTC)
I don't disagree that it could very well be that...but it's also worth a look if it's changed recently, or the smell or taste or texture has changed.
aprilstarchild 28th-Mar-2006 05:25 am (UTC)
Oh, I totally agree.
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 02:54 pm (UTC)
yeah i hear you. i've recently been tested and after having a brush with a NASTY yeast infection last year i'm very hypervigilant about this stuff. i don't think it's any kind of bacterial imbalance, i think i'm just extra dischargy.
svilleficrecs 28th-Mar-2006 04:41 pm (UTC)
In that case, I'd recommend the cheaper, more...cottony feeling pantyliners. I've found that the dryweave type work better for bloody days. But if I'm just doing the midcycle snailtrail loveliness, simpler pantyliners the better.
8falling8star8 27th-Mar-2006 07:11 pm (UTC)
me toooo. (and i dont have a BI).
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 02:55 pm (UTC)
glad to know i'm not alone! :)
terka 27th-Mar-2006 08:09 pm (UTC)
ugh, i feel your pain as well.
pantyliners are my friend all the time unfortunetly.
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 02:55 pm (UTC)
i was using them so much i just srated getting this rash. even my GYN said something about the rash and told me not to use them again. ugh.
photobooth15501 27th-Mar-2006 10:21 pm (UTC)
they gave me what i can only liken to an adult form of diaper rash

Amen to that!
lilliesnremains 28th-Mar-2006 12:00 am (UTC)
yes, yes indeed.

i get that quite a lot from disposable pads, which is why i'm thinking of switching to cloth for the air flow reasons.

either that, or get a cup.
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 02:57 pm (UTC)
it was seriously like a perfect outline of a liner. my doc was like OMG!
hildybrant 27th-Mar-2006 10:27 pm (UTC)
Funny you mention this... my friend and I were just talking about the flood of discharge that occurs when we run.

WTF is up with that, anyhow?
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 02:58 pm (UTC)
i have a girlfriend too who i've been talking to lately about this! we both cannot believe how much discharge occurs when working out. it must be something regarding the motion or something? i have no idea. i should make a mental note to ask my doctor about that.
shakidaisy 28th-Mar-2006 12:24 am (UTC)
have you thought about using a menstrual cup for the times when it's really flowing?
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 02:59 pm (UTC)
i was thinking about it but there's really no way to tell ahead of time if it's going to be a nasty discahrge day, ya know? i'm a bit hesitant to wear it every single day. i have been meaning to look into those though. do you use a certain brand? any recs?
amhranai9 28th-Mar-2006 04:51 am (UTC)
Omg, I love the subject line of this post! It's so funny b/c I've noticed that especially when I'm wearing dark panties, the discharge line is almost sparkly, and reminded me a lot of snail trails!

Ha ha... but yeah. It's annoying, and some women get it a lot more than others. I know before I started the pill it made me paranoid all the time that I was starting my period.
kimmercake 28th-Mar-2006 03:00 pm (UTC)
haha. i WISH i discharged sparkles!!!
