I'm in my mid-twenties and I still have difficulty finding my vaginal opening. Needless to say, I'm still a virgin and during my menstrual cycle, I just resort to wearing pads but I'm tiring of it and want to try tampons. I've tried finding the opening myself but it just hurts. I've also asked my boyfriend (which he was only too happy to do, lol), but he wasn't so sure, maybe because of all the layers. He did say he saw something very fleshy in the middle.
I'm starting to think that maybe it's my hymen and that maybe it's too thick. I've heard that sometimes hymens can be completely sealed making penetration of any kind painful, but mine can't be completely closed because I get a heavy flow for the first 2 days of my cycle.
My boyfriend suggests if it's not a thick or sealed hymen, it may be that my opening is too small. But during my period, I sometimes pass clots that are as big as a quarter and that doesn't hurt (maybe because of all the blood acting as lube). And I'm able to pass them with ease. So it can't be a small opening either? I'm thinking of seeing a gynecologist this month because it's just embarrassing that at my age I still can't figure this out. Does anyone have any insight on what this could be? I hope I don't need surgery.
Thank you very much!
