I really do need help with birth control.
I'm in a long-term relationship, and I'm looking for a method of birth control that will work for me, but it seems like I have no options! I'm starting to get quite stressed out about this situation, as I've already tried out many different forms of contraception, and there's always a problem!
I've tried pills (combination, low-dose, progestin-only), and they always seem to increase my depression/anxiety symptoms until my moods become overwhelming for me. I've tried the Paragard/copper IUD two times, but the IUD expelled both times (I've never given birth, and that could be why). I've recently tried the Nuvaring, and it was okay for about two weeks until it started to exacerbate my depression/anxiety symptoms, just like with all the pills I've tried--so I've come to the conclusion that any kind of hormone birth control is NOT for me. I was looking into diaphragms and cervical caps, but research tells me that you MUST use spermicides with these devices--which is unfortunate, because I'm very allergic to spermicides. I would stick with just condoms, but many condoms include spermicide, and I was hoping to have something more reliable than condoms (as I've had problems with condoms in the past).
So, I'm stuck. I've been researching and researching, I've been to Planned Parenthood and my ob/gyn countless times, and I don't know what I should do. It seems like I have no birth control options left, outside of the withdrawal/pull-out method, and that would be even less reliable than the condoms. I was really counting on the diaphragm or cervical cap, but now I don't know what to do and I'm stressed. Can anyone help?
