3 days ago, I saw a gynecologist for the first time and got my first pap smear. I got a call from one of their offices this morning, and they told me I had a yeast infection and they were going to go ahead and send the medicine or something like that. I was honestly half asleep when I answered the phone, though so I don't remember exactly. But what I don't understand is, how do I have a yeast infection if I don't have any symptoms? In early October, I had a yeast infection (I think) and I was quite painfully aware of it -- itching, swelling, strange discharge, etc. -- but the symptoms didn't last more than a couple of days and so I didn't treat it because I didn't know that I was supposed to. Is it possible that I still have that same yeast infection and I just wasn't aware of it? I really don't know how long yeast infections even last, but I've recently read they don't go away easily without treatment.
If anyone could shed some light on this, I would very much appreciate it :)
