April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in the United States. Here are some links to resources, events, and ways you can get involved this month, if you'd like to.
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center says this year's campaign focuses on healthy sexuality and its connection to childhood sexual abuse prevention. They have resources here, as well as promotional graphics and a couple of social media campaigns you can check out. (There will be Twitter discussions on Tuesdays in April at 2pm Eastern, hashtags are #SAAM and #TweetAboutIt).
Surviving in Numbers, a project by a survivor, helps people talk about their experiences while bringing awareness about sexual assault. This seems to be focused largely on college campuses, but could be done anywhere. What do you think about this project?
RAINN has some suggestions as to things you can do this month to combat and raise awareness of sexual violence and resources for survivors. Donations to RAINN this month will be doubled!
Did you know about SAAM? Do you plan on participating in any way that you want to tell us about? Feel free to link or talk about any activities, projects, or events going on in your area, and share any resources you'd like to, also!
