Implanon as first HBC

Hello all you lovely VagPag-ers! I'm a 25-year-old cis-woman and I have some questions about HBC. I've never been on it before because I've never really needed to be on it (I've never had PIV sex), but I almost had PIV sex a few days ago and will (hopefully) have the opportunity again soon (which I would like to take advantage of). I really want to be on some form of hormonal birth control because even though we would be using condoms, I would just be way more comfortable with a more reliable method of not getting pregnant (which would be a disaster right now).

After much research, I think Implanon would work best for me because it is incredibly reliable birth control and I wouldn't have to take a pill every day, which I am terrible at. I can barely remember to take my antidepressants; throwing another pill into the mix would not be very nice. My question is, is it all right to use Implanon as my first ever type of HBC or would it be better to be on some other form of hormonal birth control and then graduate to the Implanon in a year or two? I really don't want to do that, but if I have to I will. I have a doctor's appointment next week and will talk with her about it, but I was hoping you folks would have some good advice or maybe experience with this. Thanks very much!
