I'm curious to know some information about this, since the internet and my doctor were both somewhat lacking in the education department about CMV.

About six months ago, I went to my gyno to get a lesion looked at. I was terrified that I had herpes (I even posted in here about it), and the gyno said that it looked and acted like herpes (it really did). I was given a blood test, which came back negative for HSV-1 and 2. He did say that whatever numbers and such had appeared on my test, however, showed I had been exposed to cytomegalovirus, which, he said, may or may not have had something to do with my lesion (which had healed up and gone away by this point).

I googled CMV, and essentially what I found out was that pretty much everyone has been exposed to it in some way, shape, or form and that it's in the herpes family, similar to how chicken pox is in the herpes family (I also had chicken pox twice as a kid, but I only got a vague sort of answer about if the two were connected). But all the information that I found out about the virus becoming activated or whatever says that there's a rash and a fever and all this other nonsense, none of which I had. It's all very confusing to me, and I was just wondering if anyone else had any useful information about it. I haven't experience anymore lesions since, but these questions have sort of been rolling around my head for a little while.
