I've just started using a menstrual cup, and I have found that the single biggest thing that helps with using it is using some lube on insertion. However, I took a quick look at the ingredients of the 'natural' lube that I've had around for a while, and noticed that it has glycerin in it, and seeing as I'm prone to YIs, that went straight out the window. I'm hunting down a really good looking organic lube, but in the mean time, I needed something that I could use. I hummed and hahhed in the supermarket for quite some time and ended up buying the Durex Play, 2 in 1 massage, in the stimulating guarana. I wanted to just get the plain durex lube, but it didn't have any ingredients on it, nor could I find ingredients on their website, so I put that back. I'm not using anything that won't disclose what's in it.
Now, there weren't any glycerines in it, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what is a paraben and what isn't, and what else may be dangerous, so I thought I'd post the ingredients on here and see if any of you lovely people could help me out.
Here are the ingredients:
- Propylene Glycol
- Benzoic acid
- Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
- Sodium saccharin
- Sodium Hydroxide
Oh, and while I will be mostly using it with my cup, I do have a girlfriend and it may find it's way into some fun, so I'd hope it would be okay for that too.
