I'm 23 years old. For the past few years, as I've been tracking my cycle more closely, I've noticed water retention/bloating the week before my period that disappeared after the first day of bleeding. Over the last few months, though, I've become bloated earlier and earlier in my cycle and it's lasted longer (all the way through my period). It's definitely bloating because it feels uncomfortable in that particular way, it's concentrated around my middle, and it does disappear entirely overnight around ovulation. I am naturally a very slim girl so any change in body shape is evident, but most of the month now I look like I'm in the early stages of pregnancy because my stomach is so distended. I drink dandelion tea sometimes (3-4 cups a day when I'm trying to kick the bloat) and it doesn't help much. Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do? I suspect I may be developing some new food sensitivities to dairy and wheat, but during a week or two in the middle of my cycle, I have no issues with bloating whatsoever, so hormones must play a big role. I almost surely have endometriosis (family history, incredibly heavy and painful periods), if that might be the cause.
I should add that I eat very healthy, rarely drink alcohol (1-2 drinks per month), and exercise regularly, and I don't take any prescription drugs (including HBC) or smoke. I have very healthy habits, so I don't understand, and it's really bothering me.
