I'm posting on behalf of a close friend.
This weekend, my friend L came down with a Bartholin cyst. She's had them before, but they've always just been a minor annoyance, until this weekend. This time, it started causing her pain and difficulty walking. She tried epsom salt baths and warm compresses, but to no avail, and it was bad enough for her to go to the doctor today. She's on antibiotics now.
Her doctor wants to do a marsupialization; this was the first option he gave her, without asking about her history of them. However, this is the first time it's become infected; she absolutely does not want to have this procedure and everything she's read about it is reinforcing that. She's really scared and upset.
Is there any other way of dealing with this problem? Should she seek a second opinion, or is this pretty much it? Is there anyone who has had this procedure done willing to comment with their experiences or offer reassurances?
Thanks lots in advance, everyone.
