(A bit about me: I'm 22, I have no medical insurance, or a job, and I don't live with my own parents. I'm currently residing with my best friend and her parents foot everything. :( This makes it extremely difficult for me to say anything when something is wrong with me. I just feel too damn guilty.)
In mid-February, I thought I had a YI. I've had one before, but this time it was on a completely different level. The itching was intense and painful. It hurt right before I peed and right after, never during, weirdly. I am sexually active, I've been with the same guy for 8 months (my last partner before him was 4 years ago and it was a one-night stand.) We use condoms every time. Anyway, before I came down with what I thought was a YI, my boyfriend and I hadn't engaged in any penetrative sex as it was starting to become uncomfortable--my vagina felt really raw and it burned. I guess the symptoms were just starting. I also started my period and we never engage in penetrative sex while I've got the bleeds.
My period ends and I get this horrible itching in my nether regions. I didn't have much discharge but I did notice it was different than my normal discharge so I went out and got the 3-day Monistat treatment. The itching subsided but the burning pain inside didn't, even after I finished the Monistat. Then one night it got so bad I had to go to the ER.
I get a lecture from the doctor since I've never been to a GYNO or had a PAP smear in life. They did a urinalysis and swabbed my cervix. My results comeback with BV and UTI. I'm prescribed 5 days of Metronidazole Vaginal Gel and 10 days of Doxycyline.
I've since finished both prescriptions, no intense burning/itching or burning during urination. The only bad things to happen while I was on the Doxycyline was I had a really upset stomach for about 4 hours because I forgot to eat and one instance of dizziness.
My boyfriend and I did not have any sexual contact during that time and I waited a further 2 weeks before engaging in penetrative sex with him.
So, on Wednesday, we are both hot and excited (and he takes it slow) but not even half-way through the sex, it hurt too much and we had to stop. My vagina BURNED. Before deciding on having sex again, we purchased water-based lube and a different type of condom just to cover all the bases.
This didn't seem to help. :(
Could the aforementioned issues have returned? Prior to the botched sex, I hadn't had any problems. But about 20 minutes afterwards, when I went to pee, it BURNED horribly. There's no such burning now, but my vagina is pretty tender...
I don't have a latex allergy, but could I be allergic to condoms?
Now I am sort of freaking out that I could bring back the aforementioned problems. :( Should I suck my guilt up (the ER bill made me cry) and go see someone?
