For folks who might not have been aware, March 8 is International Women's Day, an event that is not without relevance in VaginaPagina. In honor of that, Genders Across Borders and CARE are hosting a blogging day. (You can check out the GAB link to see a list of all contributors.) And in honor of that, VP is asking its members -- that's y'all -- their takes on any of the questions-for-thought:
- How can we, as a culture and as members of the global community, involve, educate, and inspire girls in a positive way?
- Describe a particular organization, person, group or moment in history that helped to inspire a positive future and impact the minds and aspirations for girls.
Also, we want to be really, super clear on this: We are posting this to include anyone who does now or has identified as a woman or girl. It is not meant to detract from folks of other gender identities who may well need more visibility, recognition, or support in or from the world at large**. But the fact remains, we yet live in a world where a vast number and variety of women need this recognition and support as well.
** If there is another day that requires similar recognition from and in VP, please also drop us a line, either in the comments or by emailing vpteam (at) vaginapagina (dot) com.
