Anonymous Post: STI prevention with condoms after potentially exposing oneself to STI's?

Several weeks ago I started having sex with my boyfriend. I've never had sex before, but he's had many, many partners. He told me he has no STIs, but even though I trust him I know it's possible he has something and doesn't know it. However, I've been really stupid and didn't ever make him get tested or wear a condom (I'm on HBC). I'm really starting to regret being so lax about this. I plan to get tested, but my question is: Is there any point in starting to use condoms now? Specifically for STI prevention. My feeling is if he has anything I've already been exposed to it and it's too late to do anything. Is this the case? We don't have any other partners so I don't have to worry about new exposure. I could ask him to start using them, but I don't know if there's any reason to.
