Some background: In March 2010 I had an abnormal pap with LSIL results. I didn't have the time or money to get the recommended colposcopy. Last June, I felt that I would like to get another pap before jumping in and getting a colposcopy right away since it had been over a year since the abnormal pap. That test came back normal, but they still recommended that I get retested in 6 and 12 months.
I went in last month to get retested and the most recent pap came back positive for HPV and the pap was abnormal (ASCUS). I called and talked to the clinician, but I don't feel any better about anything. She just told me that the only treatment is monitoring (which I feel that observing something isn't treating it) and that I shouldn't worry because everyone has it. I am scheduled for a colposcopy tomorrow afternoon. I still feel really awful about all of this.
I just want some reassurance from some people who have been through this or have any advice. I don't know what else to do.
