Yeast Infection, BV, and Sex, oh my!

Main question: Can guys "get" BV?

Here's the story:

In September, I was diagnosed with a yeast infection. I was given a diflucan, took it, and the tightness and occasional itching went away.

I went back in November because I suspected yeast again, but the gyno said that there was very little and nothing to worry about.

I then proceeded to use the 7-day Monistat treatment.

Last week, I went back to the gyno who said that I had BV and a little bit of yeast.

I had sex with my boyfriend before the BV was officially confirmed. It smelled sour down there, but that was the only symptom. He later said that his penis smelled really bad. We are going to hold off on sex until I manage this, but I'm worried that he may be harboring BV, if that's even possible.

I was given a course of antibiotics and another diflucan from the gyno after this last visit, but I've ordered some fem-dophilus capsules online and am planning to try those instead. Is this a good idea? I go to planned parenthood, and while it's great because it's free, the wait time is kind of ridiculous, so I would like to try "alternative" methods to get this under control.
