I am almost 9 weeks post-partum. I am breastfeeding on demand, which amounts to about 8 to 10 feedings a day, about three of which are between 10-6AM. My lochia stopped around 5 weeks post-partum and at my 6 week post partum check-up I was in great shape.
I've had sex now with my husband about 4 times since then (with a condom). Each time, there was a little bit more lochia afterward (which I heard can happen with contractions from orgasms).
However, on the 14th of November, I noticed some spotting (not related to sex). This has now continued, including today. on the 12th I felt a little bit crampy and on the 13th, got that "I'm going to get my period soon" feeling, as I was just a little bit down and out. I don't think it's remaining lochia because it smells like period and not like lochia.
My periods before pregnancy were rather heavy and long(ish), around 8 days. I also had terrible cramps. I have heard pregnancy can make your periods lighter, but really, FOUR DAYS OF SPOTTING? Compared to before, this is a cakewalk--I'm not complaining, just wondering.
I have also heard your first period after pregnancy can be wonky anyway, but I heard it's usually heavier than usual.
Also, isn't this early to be getting a period while exclusively breastfeeding? I'm not sure if this would affect it, but my husband has fed our baby twice using pumped milk (just so he gets used to a bottle if needs arise)--but I don't miss any feedings, and the baby likes a pacifier because he otherwise would be on my breast all day and puking up milk because he'll overfeed himself (he likes sucking A LOT).
