Going on birth control/first gynecologist visit

Alright so, I recently turned 24, I've never been to a gynecologist or had any type of doctor down in my lady parts. Seeing as how my grandmother passed away from uterine cancer I figure it's time to get checked out, just in case. On top of that, I want to regulate my period, and I've been with my boyfriend for over a year and neither of us desire a child... so hello, Planned Parenthood appointment, I have no insurance and I would like some birth control pills.

I'm planning on telling them that I want a generic low dose pill, but other than that I'm pretty clueless. I know I don't want an IUD because that wouldn't help with regulating my period. I know I don't want the patch, or the shot. So other than saying I want a generic low dose pill, what else should I probably tell them/request of them?

I'm really clueless, I can't talk to my family about this because of religious purposes they would flip their shit on me, even though I'm 24. I've spoken to one friend because she's the only friend I have that is open and loving enough to share information, and I've Googled the hell out of everything I can think of, but that can only go so far.

So help me out, people!

Apprehensive & Excited
