I'm bipolar and also suffer from migraines. I got referred to a gynocologist by my nurologists nurse when I told her I was getting migraines around my period and nothing they were giving me when I called and they called something in for me was helping. I also get REALLY bad insomnia around it, which doesn't work too well when you are bipolar.
I have avoided hormonal birth control for years due to the bipolar. My doctor recommended the nuvaring because he said I would have less side effects and he thinks the insomnia and migraines are due to an estrogen drop around that time
I completely forgot to ask him about this and I was reading about the nuvaring today and it said you should not smoke while you are on it.
The nurse asked me if i smoke and I do, but I use electronic cigarettes, so it's just nicotine and vegetable glycerine pretty much that I am inhaling, so I'm not sure if she put me down as a smoker or not. I know my endocrinologist (this has been the year for health issues!) puts me down as a non smoker when I get my blood work results mailed to me.
I don't start the nuvaring till July 1st (I saw him on July 9th and he wanted me to wait to reset my cycle, so June is currently SUCKING for me in terms of sleep and migraines) so I can find out from him, but I thought I would ask here if anyone uses an e cig with hormonal birth control and knows if it is less likely to cause interactions with it than regular cigarettes
