I have a very frequent urination problem.
Recently I have been urinating very frequently. And when I say very frequently - I mean in the last two hours (12 to 2 am) I've had to pee about 6-10 times. (I always mean to count, but I forget or I forget when I started counting). Today I have had three drinks - a half glass of water (about 6 oz) at lunch at 2 pm; a glass of juice (perhaps 8-10 oz) at dinner at about 10 pm; and a half glass of milk (about 4 oz) with a late night snack at 11 pm.
I've had a UTI before, but this doesn't feel like one. For one thing, it's been going on for at least 6 months, probably more I think (probably closer to 9 months - I remember my mother making a comment about it when I visited her back in August 2010.) For another, it's not one of those painful urgent gotta-pee-now feelings. It feels only slightly more urgent than a regular urination urge, and it's not painful. I also don't get a little trickle when I pee - I have no idea where all this liquid is coming from, as my above mentioned drinking routine is normal for me. But every time I either 1) pee a lot of liquid, 2) pee normal or 3) only pee a little less than I normally do.
It's worst at night. I usually sit in my bed for a few hours before I go to sleep, and it's not uncommon for me to pee 10 times in the span of 2.5 hours. I usually begin feeling the urge to urinate again about 10-15 minutes after I've eliminated the last time. Sometimes I try to hold it, but of course eventually I have to let it out. I generally sleep between 6-8 hours a night and I wake up 1-3 times in the middle of the night to urinate. Then when I wake up in the morning, even after urinating twice the following night, I have to urinate first thing. Usually I wake up with a really full bladder (I wake up holding my urine) and I urinate 2-3 times within the first hour of waking up. The urine is usually light yellow to clear and it gets clearer the more I've peed since my last drink. During the day, I have to use the restroom about 10 minutes after I finish eating/drinking a meal, but I don't have to urinate quite as frequently - it's still more than most people, though.
Often I feel a little cramping in my lower abdomen right before, during, and/or right after I pee - kind of like period cramps. I also get the minor cramping randomly in the middle of the day. I rarely get my period because I'm on birth control (Zarah) and I just skip it, so I only get it 2-3 times a year if that. I have mild chronic lower back pain so it's hard to distinguish this, but that sometimes my back is a little more sore after I've peed like a million times, right over where my kidneys are. Like right now. Usually my low back pain is a bit lower, concentrated right over my hips.
Let's see, what else? I am hungrier than normally - this is a more recent change, but I feel like I need to eat all the time, even after I have just finished eating. Portions that used to satisfy me don't anymore. And I feel fatigued and achy, although I think that's my allergies. I also get migraines quite often - mostly from stress from a long day, but sometimes when I haven't eaten or when I'm really tired and sometimes, for no reason at all. Sometimes I just wake up with them. I usually get a migraine 1-2 times a week, but this week I've had 3.
Gotta pee again. Any ideas? I am going to see the doctor about this (and it's time for a gyn visit anyway) but it's a really hectic time of year for me and I have a huge exam next Friday that I'd like to wait until after to go to the doctor! Maybe I shouldn't?
