Gynecologist Question

Hi everyone,

I'm 20 years old and not yet sexually active. I've scheduled my first gynecological exam for a number of reasons (extreme depressive symptoms during PMS, desire to go on birth control, general concern for the well-being of my ladyparts...), and I have a question:

Can I use soap in the vulva area the morning before the exam? (I know you should never use soap, but I typically use Dove soap anyway. I want to be clean before the exam but I don't want the soap to interfere with any of the tests.) My appointment is at 10 a.m.; I would probably shower an hour or two beforehand.

Also, is there anything else a first-timer should no going into the exam? I'm checking out the appropriate tags on this community now, but if you have any other advice, please let me know.

Thanks for your help!
