I posted a few days ago about Lo Loestrin and the Nuvaring but haven't heard anything about Lo Loestrin specifically. Has anyone tried this? My doctor said it was new on the market and contains half the amount of estrogen as most current pills (10 micrograms, I believe). I'd really like to try it but am a bit hesitant about trying something that has only been on the market for a few months. Would the decreased estrogen offer less effective protection? Obviously all pills have to go through thorough testing, but I read the pamphlet for this pill, which indicates that "Based on the results of one clinical study, about 2 to 4 out of 100 women may get pregnant during the first year they use Lo Loestrin Fe." I've always been told that the pill is 99.8% effective (when taken perfectly) so I'm unsure if those statistics are for typical or perfect use...and if it's for perfect use, that's certainly not a risk I want to take.
Anyway, any info on this pill, the 2-4 person statistics, or any other very low dose estrogen pills would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
