Vaginal ulcer

A couple of months ago, I developed a single ulcer on the inner edge of my outer labia. It was about 1/2 inch in diameter, circular, and had a raised red edge with a pale yellow 'crater' in the center. Basically, it looked exactly like a canker sore. It was painful and itchy, and took about 3 weeks to scab and fall off. It looks normal to me now, but the area's still a little sensitive.

Unfortunately, this ulcer popped up the day before I left on a 4 week trip to Guatemala. I got back and spent some time traveling, and now I've finally got an appointment with a gyno, but the earliest they had was late September.

I should be very low risk for STIs. I've been in a functionally monogamous relationship with the same person for 4 years, and neither of us has ever been sexually active with anyone else. I was negative for everything they tested for when I had an IUD inserted 2.5 years ago, and have had normal pap smears annually. My boyfriend hasn't had any symptoms.

This didn't seem urgent enough to warrant running around looking for a doctor who could see me sooner (especially since the ulcer's been gone for weeks already) but I'm pretty curious about what could be going on. The only options I'm finding are STI and rare autoimmune condition.

Any ideas what this could have been?
