I've been having irregular periods for a few years now, and they seem to be getting more and more unpredictable. In high school, I was pretty much regular - every 35 days or so, I'd get a moderate flow period for about 4 or 5 days. Now, it's difficult to know what the heck is going to happen. I may get a light period for 2 days, and then it goes away, I may not get a period at all for a few months, I may get it 2 weeks after the last one ended, or (like right now) I may get it for a few days, have it go away for a day or two, then come back (seriously, this has been going on for the last month and a half). I also sometimes get really big, mucus-y looking clumps (clots?) when I bleed. I've had them as big as a golf ball before, and when they are that big, I get a bit light-headed when I pass them. The unpredictability is starting to frustrate and worry me. I'm frustrated because I don't know how to prepare for it. (Lucky for me I wear black pants to work!) I'm worried because I think there may be an underlying health issue that is causing this. I really want to have kids someday (not anytime soon, but someday), so I want to make sure I don't have any issues "down there".
Does anyone know of a good, relatively inexpensive gynecologist in the Columbia SC area? Any info is helpful. (Prices, contact info, website, etc.) Thanks in advance!
