Birth control & heat and switching pills in the middle of a pack

Alright so I posted here a few days ago asking if my pills would be less effective because I was out for a few hours in really hot temperatures with them. I called two pharmacists and the pill manufacturer and they all said that it's definitely possible that the pills could have been rendered less effective. I know the odds are that they're probably okay but a pregnancy really isn't in the cards for me right now so I'm playing it safe and getting two new packs of pills.

I'm on the 5th day of my pills and I'm going tomorrow to pick up my new pills. Is it okay if I switch pill packs in the middle of a pack? I'm on Ortho Cyclen so the hormones are the same throughout. I'm not sure why it would be an issue but I'm asking to be safe, just in case there's something that I'm not aware of. Also, should I wait a week or so once I start taking my new pills, just to be safe? (I'm sorta crazy with this stuff but I figure it's better to be crazy than pregnant right now)

Thanks guys!
