hysterectomy and menopause? (curiosity)

so I'm watching the doctors and just quickly I heard about this woman who had weight gain issues and they were trying to figure out if it was her thyroid or menopause or anything else la la la
but they mentioned that she had a hysterectomy, and that they ran some tests and found out she wasn't going through menopause or anywhere near that
knowing that when you get a hysterectomy you stop menstruating, what type of things do you think they would test for to check for menopause?
would it just be a hormonal thing?
I didn't know that one could go through menopause after a hysterectomy, it didn't really occur to me that there still could be hormonal things going on

so this is more a curiosity thing but if someone could explain to me how that would work (menopause with a hysterectomy and the tests involving it) or give me any insight, that'd be great, thanks!
