The ever-elusive male contraceptive?

New research, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, might be able to provide men with temporary (six month) infertility through ultrasound as a form of birth control. They are touting it as reliable, low-cost, reversible, non-hormonal contraception that men are responsible for/can control.

What do people think? My first instinct is that it would be wonderful to have this as an option, but I also wonder how it would affect condom use and STI rates at a population level.
