So the shots ended but the only difference they made was that the redness is gone... my gf is still quite tender/raw to touch and she says she doesn't feel any different from the day we first saw Dr E, a couple thousand dollars and a lot of pain ago. :( At least that's pretty much the worst physical pain thing done with... Oh I got the name of what they were injecting if anyone's interested, it's Dexamethasone and Sensorcaine. (I looked up Dexa and found it's also used for dog ear infections and sore horse legs...neat)
He started her on Amitriptyline HCL 10mg instead of the Nortriptyline now, 1/2 pill once at bedtime for 1-2 weeks and then up to 1 pill, hopefully this won't make her so dozey and dry-mouthed as the other stuff did.
She's also on some kind of lidocaine therapy, seems he felt bad about the money thing so he gave her a 50mL brown glass jar of Lidocaine Hydrochloride 4% and a bunch of gloves and gauze, and has her dip gauze in it every night and kind of cork herself for 5 minutes. It doesn't hurt her like the Protopic did though, so at least theres that.
Oh and he's having her do some minor exercises, laying on her side with both knees bent and lifting the top leg as far as it will go, then the other side, then laying on her back and bicycling her legs, each movement increasing every few days up to a 40 count each. She doesn't think it'll do a thing, but she's determined to do anything he says to try.
Next appt in 6 weeks...
