My last period started on March 12, a few days later than I expected it. My cycle generally runs from 29-34 days between periods. Today, on day 27 of my cycle, I wiped and found a tiny bit of fresh blood. It was faint—not bright red. It looked pinkish (implantation bleeding, which can happen during this window of time, seems to be described as pinkish or brownish), but it was also just the tiniest amount of blood, so it's possible that it was the smallest possible quantity of regular old blood. Wiping in that area later in the day, I found no traces of blood whatsoever. I had diarrhea this morning (not irregular for me, so I’m not concerned about the diarrhea itself) and I am not 100% sure if the blood on the toilet paper was from a scrape from using too much toilet paper to clean up diarrhea or if it came from inside my vagina. I don’t SEE any open scrapes, but more like toilet paper burns. My cycle has never been shorter than 29 days in the year-and-a-half that I've been tracking my cycle, but the slight tardiness of my last period may have thrown things off a little?
Back-tracking to explain...
On March 23, I started having the thick ropey discharge that accompanies/immediately precedes ovulation for me. Listing relevant dates only, I had sex with a condom on March 26, 27, 28, 30, and 31. There were no issues with the condoms – no slips or leaks or tears or breaks.
I started a new office job on March 30. That night, my boyfriend invested in a Mr. Coffee to get us through our long work days, so on March 31, I started drinking large amounts of caffeine (this continued on the 31, 1, 2, 3 and 5). Prior to this, I drank 1-2 cups of chai (black) tea every few days. After Mr. Coffee moved in, I started drinking approximately 3-4 cups of coffee daily.
On April 1, after two “coffee mornings,” my breasts started to feel very tender and sore and swollen. It seems more likely to me that this soreness is associated with dramatically increased caffeine intake than with early pregnancy hormonal fluctuations, since the greatest amount of time that could have passed since the first protected-sex-around-ovulation would have been only six days at that point.
I had chills after I ate (not after every meal, but after some meals) on April 5, 6 and 7.
I’ll probably just need to wait a few days to see if my period really starts (it’s due anywhere between Friday the 9th and Monday the 12th), but I’m such a nervous wreck. I know that my anxiety over a possible pregnancy is messing up my body now (cramps on and off, chills, nausea) the past few hours and I'm SURE these aren't real symptoms of anything but nerves, whether or not anything is actually physically amiss.
