I've been suffering from a yeast infection, so I decided to go to the doctor and get some medicine. I knew they would probably give me Diflucan, so I used a drug interaction checker to see if there would be any issues between my birth control pill(Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) and Diflucan. It came back saying there was a moderate interaction for the both estradiol and norgestimate and that there could be an increased risk for unintended pregnancy. So I brought a print-out of the interactions to the doctor, she read it and then assured me I'd have no interaction. Feeling a little uneasy just accepting that, I talked to the pharmacist and she assured me of the same thing. So do I trust them? I took the Diflucan on Monday and at that point I only had 3 active pills left in my pack, so I feel like even if it did negate my birth control, I probably wouldn't ovulate anyway...
So, will I be safe using birth control as my only birth control method until I get my period and then start a new pill pack?
Would it be a good idea to use an acidophilus capsule as a vaginal insert to speed up the process?
Thanks in advance!
