Over the last year or so, my cramps have been getting worse and worse. I've always had cramps, but for most of my life they've been the press-a-hand-to-my-abdomen-and-wince cramps, or occasionally the oh-god-fetal-position-time cramps. These cramps, though, are worse than anything I have ever felt before in my life. These are cramps that have me literally on my knees, head to the carpet, sobbing and writhing in pain. I've passed out four times because I just couldn't handle the agony anymore (note that I had never fainted before, ever, until the first passing-out-from-pain episode). I'm not a wuss when it comes to pain, but these cramps completely incapacitate me. And all of this is AFTER taking painkillers.
And here's the really irritating part: I've been to the doctor about it and there's apparently nothing wrong with me. Doc did an exam and said that I don't have anything 'abnormal' that could be causing my cramps to be so bad. I'm honestly pretty sure he thought I was exaggerating, because he prescribed me 800mg Ibuprofin and sent me on my way.
So what could be causing this, and how do I get it to stop? I've combed the internet, searched through the VP archives, and I just can't figure out what's going on. Help? :(
(I'm 28 by the way, have had my period since I was 13, and I'm not on any kind of birth control).
