ben wa / "kegel" balls

Hey all!
I checked the tags & tried to do some research online but here I am hoping for a quick answer.

I am interested in using ben wa balls for strengthening & fun purposes!

Question: Where can I purchase cheap, appropriate balls for this purpose, NOT online?

(my credit card is tied to my mom's, i don't have a huge budget & i want to make sure i get ones that are meant for this purpose, not decorative as i know some are.)

Also, I'm 21, never had a baby, one partner.. just want to double check this is safe & can only do good? my research so far says it's all good.

Check out your local sex shop (no clue where you are) because they'll almost certainly have them. If you don't have a local sex shop (or one you're comfortable shopping in), check out any health-food stores, as they sometimes stock them. Also, you can get them online at shops that sell lots of other stuff, so if your mom asks, you can say you were buying something unrelated. For example, they have a good selection at drugstore.com: http://www.drugstore.com/templates/stdplist/default.asp?catid=153092&trx=GFI-0-EVGR-MCN&trxp1=153087&trxp2=153092&trxp3=2&trxp4=ML. Have fun!

I only took a quick peek at the selection at the link but those balls are 1-1/2 inches wide. YIKES! They're huge!

Wearing Ben Wa balls is not "fun" like sex toys are. They are Kegel Exercisers. The weight that rattles around in them isn't really noticeable. The idea behind Ben Wa balls is to put them in and walk around and not let them drop out of you -- thereby strengthening your PC muscles. Stronger PC muscles can make sex more fun but mostly the idea is to keep them toned throughout the decades so you don't piddle your panties as an old lady.

1-1/2" balls are kinda gigantic. If you can't keep them in you, then you probably already have other issues. You might find other "fun" uses for them such as push/pull sensations during solo or partnered play but they're not really what they claim to be.

Real Ben Wa balls are smaller. 1" aluminum or stone balls are the "easy" ones. They weigh about 3/4 of an ounce each. The "harder" ones are usually made of steel. They're 3/4" and appx 1 ounce apiece. Like I said, the idea is to put them in and not let them drop out. 20 minutes a day. Do this at home. Dropping one down your pant-leg in the frozen foods aisle of the supermarket is =8oO

I bet the larger ones come in handy after childbirth. I will probably be investing in some pretty soon as my vagina is all sorts of stretched from my son and my kegals are pretty shot.

Smart Balls, the kind that are 1 1/2" inches, aren't meant to be used in the same way that Ben Wa balls are. This has a reasonably good explanation, but it's basically the shifting smaller balls inside the elastomer balls that tones the pelvic floor muscles. Additionally, Smart Balls can be used in the same way a stone egg or other pelvic floor exerciser can.

For their intended purpose, 1 1/2" is not "gigantic" at all.

Exactly! :o)

My point, which you illustrated much better than I could convey, was that those Smart Balls from the link are not really Ben Wa Balls. They're "different."

They're not Ben Wa Balls, no, but Smart Balls are kegel exercisers too.
