extremely irregular periods

Okay, so here goes. I'm 16, I've been getting my period since I was 12, and I've been seeing this regular pattern kind of occur lately, and I'm not sure if it should ring any alarms or not. I'm a constant yo-yo dieter, I've been bulimic since I was 13, I'm very anemic, and I've been up and down with binging and purging over the past year. With all that said, I kind of just roll with my body being sporadic and I never think much on it. But lately, my periods have been waaaay out of whack. The pattern is basically like this: Regular, regular, week late, three months late.

I got my period today for the first time in about three, maybe four months. There were no prior signs, except for maybe some moodiness on my part and general exhaustion and headaches. But again, that's just kind of second nature to me, so I don't know if it actually have anything to do with my period or not. But I don't know if this is alarming or not, especially seeing as my eating habits definitely effect my flow. Four months is kind of ridiculous for nothing to happen, isn't it?

I'd like to see a doctor, but my mom is pretty old fashioned. For her, me seeing a gynecologist means me having sex. I'm still a virgin, but I really think I need to see one. How would I convince my mom, who I don't think even wants to think about me at the gynecologist that it's a good idea? Is it a good idea? What would you do?
