I've been using FAM for the last 6 months and I've had some "weird" (for me) results.
Before I ever used birth control, my periods came regularly every 3 weeks and lasted about 5 to 7 days. After that I went on the Patch for about a year and a half, then the Ring for two years. I stopped the ring this June.
I had a PAP in June and everything came out normal. In July I did my first full month of FAM. In the 6 months that I've been doing it, my periods have never gone back to what they were pre-birth control. I used to get my period in a big heavy flow on the first day-- as in, surprise! Heavy period! Out of nowhere.
Now, however, I spot for several days before I get any heavy flow, and then that flow lasts for a very short time. If we include the spotting as part of my period, here is the length of time that each period has lasted:
July- 10 days
August- 13 days
Sept.- 9 days
Oct.- 14 days
Nov.- 10 days
Do you all think that it's normal for my periods to have gotten far longer, or should I go to the gyno again?
PS My temperatures also rarely follow the pattern that, according to FAM books, they are supposed to follow. As in, only once or twice have I had cycles that followed the low temps-then rise for a while-then low and period starts sequence. For most of the cycles my temps have gone up and down randomly, it seems.
