I wanted to follow up on a post I made last month about swapping from Yaz to another potential HBC method! I finally was able to see my doc and she suggested I swap over to NuvaRing. The concept for me (shoving a rubbery ring up my vag) was a little weird, but I use tampons so I figured I'd give it a try. She said that maybe the steady and gradual release of hormones from the NuvaRing would help prevent making me crazy or getting migraines like my former two HBC pills.
I'm excited to try a new HBC (maybe this one will work!) but I recently talked to a friend who just quit NuvaRing because it turned her into a crazy psycho woman, so again, I'm a bit nervous.
Are there any NuvaRing users out there who would like to share their experiences? I know every HBC method effects every woman differently, but I'm still curious and would like some feedback.
Also, I recently developed a mild UTI and the doc gave me some Ciprofloxacin to kill the bacteria. Holy crap, they weren't kidding when they said it causes upset stomach. I don't have severe stomach pains or anything, but my nausea has existed pretty much since I took it last night. I'm going to definitely up the ante with more water and food, but ugggh. Just warning you other folks out there to make sure you drink plenty of water and eat a decent meal with the stuff as it is POTENT.
It's also ridiculous that, because of the ingredients, you have to be really mindful of what you eat (including taking vitamins;etc) with the medication. I'm pretty sure that when I had a UTI a year ago, they gave me a different medication because I don't remember having to deal with all this hullaballoo.
Anyone else have any experience with this? Thank goodness I only have to take three more pills. Bleargh!
EDIT: I should mention that I did decide to try NuvaRing. I received the rings from my doc yesterday morning, had the chat with my friend last night and started my first ring this morning... but still wanted to know others' experiences with it!
Thanks for reading, superstars! :)
