Flu=early spotting?

I just dove back a few weeks to read a post about a woman who had the flu and whose period was late. I've been out with the flu and I just went to the bathroom and ta-da! Spotting. Like two weeks earlier than when I should be getting my period.

I suppose this could also be due to switching birth control, but I thought my body was kinda immune to that. I've been on birth control for about 6 years now and I've switched from Ortho-tricyclin Lo to Yasmin to Yaz and I've never ever ever experienced spotting or breakthrough bleeding. My body can be pretty baller like that! :) Due to the recent Yaz scare, I've been switched to Loestrin 24 and I'm about a week and a half into my first pack. I assumed that if I'd have any spotting it would have happened by now, but is that not the case?

Maybe it's a combo of flu AND switching BC?
