Cheap (but good!) Gyno in Chicago for a first timer/BC advice

So. I have now been sexually active for about 8 months. I have never been to a gyno before, even though my mom has been pressuring me to go since I was about 15. I get horrendous periods and I want to get on some kind of hormonal birth control so I don't have to deal with this any longer. Also because I'm afraid I'll lose my job if I don't. I have missed work or gone home early at least once a month because of this and it sucks.

So my question is; where to go? There is a women's health clinic literally around the corner from my place in Wrigleyville, and they're a 'pay what you can' place, but I'm worried about whether or not they're worth it. I have insurance, but I can't really afford the $50 copay, unfortunately. So I need somewhere in a decent neighborhood, preferably sliding scale and I need to feel comfortable. A female doctor is a must for me. Male gynos creep me out hahaha.

Also, I'm wondering what a good form of BC would be for me. I still want to get my period (or at least something like it) for peace of mind. But I don't want to gain weight (unless it's in my bra ;) I have a big enough problem with my weight already) or lose my sex drive.

You guys are always so knowledgeable, so I come to you ^_^

I am in Chicago, Illinois, for the record.
