Extra long period, not on HBC

Backstory: I haven't taken HBC in about a year because I couldn't afford it, after being on it for like 5 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2007, and the generic yasmin I was taking kept my symptoms in check, and when I came off the HBC I still had perfect 28 day cycles. My periods were mostly normal, lasting 4-5 days. Mild cramping, pretty average flow for me. I was pretty stoked because I thought I wasn't going to have any major problems from not being able to afford yasmin anymore.

So in September I had a period, from the 16th to the 25th. It was the longest I'd had in a long time but the last couple days were really really light. I started bleeding again October 5th and I haven't stopped since. It was kind of weird because I didn't feel like I was going to start on the day I did, no breast tenderness, no stomach cramps. Also this is the heaviest period I've ever had with a couple exceptions. Most of the time I am changing totally soaked super tampons every 6 or so hours and a couple times I had soaked through two super tampons and an overnight pad in an hour. And I've been passing the biggest clots I've ever seen come out of me. But on the other hand, there were a couple times it came to a full stop. On Wednesday for example I didn't bleed all day and I slept that night without a tampon or a pad or anything, only to explode bleeding the next morning. Last night the flow died down a little, and the regular tampon I took out this morning didn't have that much on it at all. I soaked through a super tampon in an hour from like 11AM to noon but since then the flow has been really slight. Also, this whole time I haven't had one cramp, not one moment of breast soreness to indicate that I've been bleeding.

I already made an appointment to see my OB/GYN on Monday but I'm still shitting because this has never happened to me and I'm nervous about what it might be. I can afford to go back on yasmin so I plan on getting back on it. What on earth could this be? My first thought was a misscarriage but there has been no pain at all. I do admit my fiance and I haven't been as careful as we should be so maybe. Could it just be a PCOS freakout? Recent bloodwork has shown that I'm really anemic; should I be concerned about that?

I'm just freaking out. I'm glad I'm seeing my doctor but anything encouraging you guys could say would be appreciated.
