Urge to pee, but can't

Okay so today I had the urge to pee, like I had to go very badly. But when I went to go, barely anything came out. After I was done, I still had the urge to pee. It's still like this currently. I've tried to go a few more times, but still either nothing or barely at all. Does anyone know if I should be concerned?I've never had this problem before and it's driving me nuts.

I've been a long time watcher of this community, but never had any problems to post, until now. Thanks in advance for any advice.

try drinking a lot of water
see if you can pee

it could be the beginning of a uti, do you have any other symptoms? a fever, cramps, a headache, a back ache?

I just read about UTIs, and I really hope I don't have one :( I don't have any of those symptoms. I'm going to drink lots of water and see if that doesn't help. Thanks for the info!!

If you are not better by the morning, call for a doctor's appointment. If you leave it untreated it can get very painful and dangerous. I've had really bad UTI's to the point that I was peeing blood.

Not to scare you, just saying.

Drinking irritants like alcohol and coffee (regularly) can aggravate the bladder too.

It could be a UTI. I would call a doctor to schedule an appointment when you get the chance.

Eeks, I'm going to try drinking a lot of water like the poster above said. If that doesn't work and I'm still having the problem I'll call a doctor. Thank you :)

I would call just to be safe. An untreated UTI can turn into a kidney infection. Good luck.

Drink a lot of water, but still see the doctor.
You realllly don't want a kidney infection. Trust me.

If it persists, I would call it as a UTI too. One of my friends has chronic bladder infections and complains of this single symptom everyday. They're normally pretty easy to treat.

I would call a doctor tomorrow if the symptoms are persisting, and get an appointment in the same day. UTIs are generally easily treatable if caught early, but if allowed to persist can become kidney infections, very fast -- and those are life-threatening. So if you're still having urgency tomorrow, I'd recommend going on in. I had one for 5 days before I went to the doctor; worst pain of my life, but mine was easily treatable with a 5-day course of antibiotics. I'd hate for anyone to go through that for even a whole day -- it's an utterly miserable feeling, let alone the worry of it ascending to the kidneys. Damn bladder having so many nerve endings!

Thanks, I'll do that. If the feeling is still there tomorrow, I'll get an appointment. I'm sorry you had to go thru that pain! :(

Good luck! It just really sucked because at first I thought I was imagining it, and then the weekend came and the student health center was closed, and yeah, it was very sad times! Happily I have not had another one since. *knocks on wood*

This has been happening to me a lot lately, but I've been to the doctor and they tested my urine and they said that there wasn't anything abnormal about it. But I have to pee all the time, and sometimes nothing or very little comes out, exactly how you described it before. So I hope you figure out what's going on.
ochibawolf 16th-Dec-2008 02:37 am (UTC)
Hopefully, its nothing to worry about. Thanks your comment has made me feel a little less scared :)

Certain sexual positions can "bruise" my bladder, and make me feel like I need to pee for much of the rest of the day, or some of the next day, mimicking UTI sensations (except they always go away quickly, and don't hurt -- just "gotta pee... nothing there!").

There's also some bladder conditions...

But, in the OP's case... Yeah, drink the cranberry stuff (or lots of water and cranberry pills; avoid sugared cranberry cocktail fruit drink stuff), and if it doesn't go away, go to doctor. If the lower back starts hurting, go to doctor THEN, because kidneys are in the lower back...

Luck to you both!

bladder infection!!! Go to the doctor asap and get some pills before it spreads to your kidneys; kidney infections are THE WORST.

Go to the doctor. It may turn out to be nothing, but take it from someone who's horribly sick at the moment with a kidney infection, it's the last thing you want.

Thanks guys for all your help :) Today I feel fine. I'm going to go get some cranberries today and make my own juice just to flush out my kidneys. Thanks again :)
