Horizontal Clit Hood Peircing.

So, I'm going to get a HCH piercing today. I decided against a vertical because my piercer described it as a walking orgasm, and while that sounds like fun, I'm sure I'd get sick of it after a while.

But, I was just poking around trying to figure out where she's going to pierce, and I think my hood is too small! I read a post in the archives about someone who had to get a vertical instead of a horizontal because her hood was too small. How much hood do I need? I really don;t want to be half naked and then be told I can't have it done :(

As the owner of a VCH, this is really grossly untrue. I have NEVER had an orgasm just from having my VCH, or walking around, or going up stairs, etc. That's a huge myth, and I'm really shocked your piercer is perpetuating it. I would actually go so far as to suggest you might not want to go to that piercer if he/she is that uninformed about the piercings he/she is doing.

Most women do not even notice their VCH's unless they are specifically being touched in some fashion.

Next off: Usually it's the other way around for clitoral hood piercings-VCH's generally take more hood than HCH's, not the other way around. Verticals are more functional, Horizontals are more aesethic, with less stimulation for most women.

I think you need to do a lot more research before getting this piercing-and definately go talk to another piercer, this one is raising my hackles with her misinformation. :/

Just after I had posted this, I remembered reading that somewhere. I was coming back to edit ;)

Hmm. Well, she is one of two piercers in this town, and she has always given me good advice before. I'd much rather go to her than the other one.

Thanks for your advice, I'll definitely think about waiting until I go visiting another city.

my friend had a VCH and while she never described it as a walking orgasm, she did experience a number of orgasms while doing day-to-day things. she said the best orgasm she's ever had was one time when she stood up too fast. i think it really just depends on the person.

Yeah, like I mentioned below, all women are different, however, most of us do not have constant orgasms or anything like that. If they occur from non-sexual activity, it's usually from sitting/standing too fast, or wearing pants that are really tight, etc. Normally though, it's not much of an issue.

Hell, I don't even notice mine 99% of the time.
kaelstra 5th-Apr-2006 09:48 pm (UTC)
Well, I just wanted to throw that out there-I have a VCH and know a lot of women with them, and none of them have ever had 'constant orgasms' as a result of having them. There is a myth that women with pierced clitoral hoods have orgasms walking around, or going up and down stairs, and that's pretty much untrue as well. You'll find very rare cases of women who say this happened, but the vast majority of us don't even notice the piercing unless it's either during sex, or while wearing really tight pants or something to that effect. It's fairly rare that the piercing irritates women, but that's not to say it doesn't happen occasionally, it's just a fairly rare thing.

Horizontals are generally considered the "consolation prize" for many women who had their heart set on a VCH but got told they didn't have enough hood for it.

Also, try the 'Q-tip test'. Take a Q-tip and try to insert one of the cotton ends underneath your hood (slowly, and using lube might not be a bad idea). If you can fit the whole cotton end (or a good majority of it) then you should be able to support a VCH.

I saw the q-tip test on a website somewhere and it scares me. I think I might be more suited to a horizontal, but I will ask. I did want a vertical to start off with.

Thanks for you advice, I really do appreciate it.
kaelstra 5th-Apr-2006 09:57 pm (UTC)
o_O Why would it scare you? It doesn't hurt-you're just poking a Q-tip underneath a flap of skin.

Goodness hon, if you think that's scary, you're in for a wild ride if you actually get the piercing done!
pixie_nz 5th-Apr-2006 10:09 pm (UTC)
Oh I know it doesn't hurt! I've had an industrial piercing so I know all about pain :P

It's, well, q-tips are big and I am little. I had a go just now, and I deinfitely don't think I can get a vertical.
pixie_nz 6th-Apr-2006 09:13 am (UTC)
I got it done this afternoon :)

It was definitely a sharper pain, but I still think it hurt less than the bottom hole of my industrial.
pixie_nz 6th-Apr-2006 09:12 pm (UTC)
Horizontal :)

Thank you! I've wanted a vhc for so long but was always afraid I'd feel ... too over stimulated just from day to day activities.
xorangejuice 5th-Apr-2006 11:25 pm (UTC)
You seem to know your stuff so I'm hoping you don't mind if I ask you a few questions.

I'm actually just looking into getting a vertical hood piercing. I've researched a few websites and if you have any you could recommend that'd be great. I was just wondering I guess about your personal experience... how did you take care of it, was the aftercare a pain in the ass, etc. etc.

Also just a general question... does anyone know how long you have to wait to have sex after a hood piercing?
kaelstra 5th-Apr-2006 11:47 pm (UTC)
I used bmezine.com as a huge resource for information and stories, as well as google for a lot of information as well. I used to refer people to www.ringsofdesire.com but I heard they're going out of business, so I'm not sure how much longer the website will be up.

My personal experience was that it was a breeze. It hurt intensely for like...half a second. I yelped, but the pain was gone before my yelp was done echoing off the walls. It was like a sharp pinching sensation. It didn't feel so hot when he put the jewelry in, but it wasn't unbearable by any means.

I didn't do anything special to take care of it-I checked on it a lot, but there was no special care involved. Most piercers will tell women NOT to do anything special to genital piercings, because pretty much anything you can do can cause a yeast infection-and you DO NOT want a yeast infection with a fresh piercing.

My piercer told me no fluid-on-piercing contact for 4 weeks, minimum. Even though I was married and monogamous, semen could potientially irritate it, or cause infections, so no oral sex (saliva=bad) or semen near the piercing for a bare minimum of four weeks. He advised no sex for that time too, however, he said most people don't wait that long, and only wait a week or two. His advice was: "If it hurts, stop immediately, otherwise, take it slow and use condoms/dental dams and you'll be fine."

how long did you wait to have sex after getting the piercing?
lunaleee 27th-May-2006 05:10 am (UTC)
Random question: Warm chamomile compress? Do you take the chamomile out of the tea bag and then...? My piercing is kinda angry right now, and this sounds like an awesome way to calm it down, I'm just wondering at the 'how' part of it. :) Thanks!
lunaleee 27th-May-2006 05:31 am (UTC)
Awesome, thanks! :)

I got a horizontal because my hood was too small for a vertical, so...you might be all set. :)
pixie_nz 5th-Apr-2006 10:10 pm (UTC)
Excellent :o)
kaelstra 5th-Apr-2006 11:48 pm (UTC)
Yeah I was a bit alarmed when I went to my piercer and asked for a "VCH". He faltered and asked me to tell him what that was. I started panicking "oh god he doesn't know what he's doing!" so I elaborated: "I want a vertical clitoral hood."

He looked visibly relieved that I knew what 'VCH' stood for, and said most girls didn't. o_O

I also have a vertical clit piercing, and have had it for over three years now. While I did experience some stimulation for the first month after getting it pierced, I wouldn't go to far as to call it an orgasm. I would say it was more like a pleasant tickle every now and again. It didn't even occur every time I stood up, just every once in awhile. At this point, I forget that I even have it. I completely agree with shotie's comment on that being a gross myth about VCH piercings- I got mine done with one of my best friend's, and she reports the same being true with hers.

I'm sure there are a few people who do MAYBE have an orgasm here and there, but I'd be hardpressed to find someone who has a walking orgasm. I find that mine just leads to better foreplay.
kaelstra 6th-Apr-2006 02:08 am (UTC)
Oh for sure on the last sentence there! My boyfriend loves mine! It's like a shiny red arrow that directs him to the clit. How much easier could it be? :)

I had my horizontal clit hood pierced about a year ago and I definitely don't regret it!

I remember it gave a very sharp pain when the needle passed, but as soon as the jewel was placed I didn't feel any sort of pain. Unless I accidentally touched it of course. It didn't bleed at all, so it sort of surprises me when I hear people saying it bled a lot (but perhaps these people had their vertical clit hood pierced, I don't know if it bleeds more then).

I got pierced by my boyfriend (he's a professional body piercer, I'm not crazy!) and it did feel weird to lie there with my trousers off. I can imagine it must be even stranger and more stressy when a complete (male) stranger is about to put a needle through your clit hood...

I really love this piercing, and I've noticed men like it as well :) Mine is purely aesthetic, because I wouldn't be able to support a vertical clit hood as I'm quite sensitive down there.

To anyone who doubts whether to do it or not, DO IT! It's something you'll never regret!
