International Crisis/helpline databases

Good morning VP Superstars! We, the mods, have been discussing, and we have decided that having phone numbers for helplines in only the US, Canada and the UK is not enough. Since we have members worldwide, and since our members do travel, we want to provide you with information about where to go and what to do if you are involved in a domestically abusive relationship, if you are raped or otherwise sexually assaulted, and (while I know this is not CRISIS related per say) who to call if you are GLBT and need someone to talk to safely.

In order to do this, we need your help. If you know how to get in touch with crisis centers and counseling services in countries other than the States, Canada, UK and Israel, please leave a comment with the details you know so that we can make sure that when people need them, they are available.

Thanks for your help in putting this together!

In Australia we have a campaign to prevent violence against women.
http://www.australiasaysno.gov.au/ is the website, they have links to other helplines, as well as a government funded national helpline.

http://www.australiasaysno.gov.au/gettinghelp/state_territory_numbers.htm

That link has a list of sexual and domestic assault contact details in every state in Australia.

http://www.women.gov.au/ is also a source of information (a 'portal') to most Australian online websites relating to issues involving women, including violence and sexual assault, family and health issues etc...

If there is a webpage somewhere that has a big list, then that'd be great. Unfortunately, I don't know of one, and a quick search didn't turn one up... these are the contact points i know of, and that my phone book lists.

For Western Australia,

Lifeline (crisis counselling) is 13 11 14

The Sexual Assault Resource Centre Crisis Line is 1800 199 888

HealthDirect (nurses health advice line) is 1800 022 222

Poisons Information Centre is 13 11 26

Some of these numbers may be correct for other states too, but I don't know how to check that.
