Pimples on my clit

Every once in a while, I get what I can only describe as teeny-tiny pimples on my clitoris. Slightly raised skin, filled with a little bit of pus. They seem to go away if and only if popped (within a few days... I haven't waited more than two weeks for them to disappear on their own), and there's no itching or stinging or concurrent symptoms. They've only ever appeared in or on my clitoral hood, right up next to my poor tender clit. They never turn into open sores or scab over.

I'm pretty sure I never got one before I started using NuvaRing.

Problems with them are 1) being practically on my clitoris, they irritate it, 2) being practically on my clit, it's comically uncomfortable to pop them, 3) if this sounds like some kind of crazy form or herpes or HPV, I'll see the gynecologist now rather than in a month, 4) here's a Silly Excuse, but I'm afraid of being laughed at by the nurses at health services, who aren't especially interested in helping people who are just curious, 5) are there pores there? You can't have pimples without pores... can you?

Has anyone had something like this? VP has a pretty extensive archive of bumps and sores and cysts (no better place to find a chorus of "me toos", but I haven't really found a good match for clit zits.

I'd go see your gynecologist now rather than waiting if you have the option.

So... I can, I just think they'll probably tell me to wait until my regular appointment, I'll have to talk to the nurse I don't like, and they'll charge my parents without telling me. Student health services sucks a bit. They've told me to wait a week and come back if I was still curious for symptoms of a yeast infection, and they've billed my insurance company without telling me that there even was a bill (which bounced to my parents because the company didn't cover the tests).

Tho', when people I don't know tell me to do things, I do have a remarkable way of reminding myself that it's my health (and my boyfriend's) and it's their job, and I should suck up the embarrassment. ; )

Well, you asked!

I think she was referring to the nurses/doctors, not you. :)

Yes, but I find it funny when people ask for advice then make a long list of excuses for not doing what people suggest.

It's because we're trying to work out our internal conflicts out loud. And feel like we have to justify our decisions to strangers on the internet.

It doesn't sound like HSV or HPV. But, go to the gynecologist anyway.. it can't hurt. They don't laugh at you :P I've gone twice hoe for wierd things I suspected were STDs, and both times it was simply eczema.. but no one laughed, except me :)

I've had bumps on my clit before, one of which would not go away for almost a full year, and i went to the doc about it. He told me that it was most likely a clogged sweat gland and warm compressed would help. I did warm compresses, and just a day later, the damn thing fell off (it was his hard piece of white thing).

This could be your problem, but i would go to the doctor to make sure. All things look different, and he'd need to see it to tell you what you have.

Hard piece of white thing?

I have heard tales that sometimes that smegama can harden up & get lodged in & around the vulva, including the clit. Women & men get smegma. What you're describing sounds like when it hardens up & becomes a real problem.

This website has a link describing the phenonemon, but it isn't work-safe, so use caution & viewer discretion. Click here.

So it's sort of a clogged sweat gland... something like that.

that could very well have been what caused it...but i'm not sure. I know that what it originally started out as was a little tiny bump. scared me to death. My gyno said there was no specific way of telling exactly what it was without taking a biopsy of it, but his best bet was that it was a clogged gland. He must've been right, because warm compresses released it, and keeping the area clean I havent had problems with anything like it since. I have noticed the smegma around my clit though and I get rid of it as soon as I notice it and check for it often.

thanks for the site. it was interesting.

I have a bit of the same problem, and I have had it for years. I don't think it's herpes... but if you're that concerned about it, you should check it out. Mine generally don't bother me.

You have pores everywhere you have skin. :/

It sounds like it could be Fordyce's, or you could just have keratosis pilaris, or it could just be clogged pores. None of those are at all dangerous; they can just look ugly. Onset at the same time as the NuvaRing is a little weird, though -- usually the conditions I mentioned you have or you don't.

I thik you need to diffeentiate between whthere they are on your clitoris or on your clitoral hood. I'm pretty sure there aren't pores on the clitoris itself, but there are on the clitoral hood. Maybe it's just acne or perhaps caused my irritation. It could be caused by hormones, as acne is. You might try rinsing yourself off more? I don't use soap down there, but I do rince and give myself a once-over with my loofah-thinggy and soemtimes soap-free body wash.
If it's jsut on your clitoris hood I wouldn't be too worried, but it might be worht getting checked out.
