spotting and spotting some more

i've been on mircette for about a year now and despite missing the occasional pill here and there, the only times i've ever had any spotting with it was during the first month. my period is always on time, and generally lasts about 4 days.

i missed one pill about two weeks ago (which was about a week into my cycle), and have been spotting ever since. i know that since mircette is a low dose pill, it's not uncommon to have spotting if you miss a dose. while i've missed pills before and didn't spot, i didn't really think much of it. it's been mostly dark brown (except for a few instances of bright red) and about as heavy as the last day of my period.

frankly, i'm just concerned about the length that this has been going on. i haven't been under a lot of stress or changed my eating patterns recently, and i've been taking my pills on time ever since. i got really nauseous and sick about a week ago, and have been feeling pretty dizzy and tired ever since. i think i'm just coming down with the flu, but i'm sure that having bled for two weeks isn't really helping the situation.

has anyone else ever spotted for this long? it's driving me crazy.

it could also be that, since you've been on that low dose for a year, your body has just gotten used to it. it might be that you need the next higher dosage pill up; i'd make an appointment with your doctor to talk to her about it if it's really bothering you.

i was on a really low dose pill for the past year and a half, and then i went an entire month where the cramps i have during my period just didn't go away and i had them all month long. when i went to the doctor, she suggested a higher dose pill, and this is my first month with them but everything is fine again. sometimes that just happens with the lower dosages, and breakthrough bleeding can just start up out of nowhere.
