I'm Emily, I recently turned 22. I'm living in Massachusetts with my boyfriend and my cat Punky. I found the community by just randomly surfing LJ.
Hrmm.... my vagina and I get along just fine, but we have our moments of turmoil. I keep her clean and excercised, and she's quite content.

I'm Lili, 32, an American living in Ireland. I've been lurking for a while but am going to try to participate more in the future. I'm here because I am interested in Women's health and want to work in that field someday (possibly as a midwife or nurse-practitioner).

abbydabby Hi, i'm abby, and i'm very aware of my vagina!11th-Oct-2004 08:06 pm (UTC)
How could I not be? I'm 7 months pregnant... it's doing all *kinds* of interesting things! Regardless, I'm fortunate enough to have been raised by a very progressive-thinking mother who made no bones about the power of femininity. And I'm not talking in the June Cleaver sort of way.

She never gave the birds & bees talk ... she didn't figure she needed to. Once I got my first period, and her reaction was, "Congrats. Did you find my pads okay?" and that was that... I got the idea that there is nothing dirty or wrong with being a girl. Which kinda got my attention. We'd talk "girl talk" in front of my dad, and though it took him some getting used to, he eventually joined in. There was no need for birds & bees - from the very beginning, it was, "Sex is wonderful, there's nothing wrong with it, but I'm too young for you to make me a grandmother. In the meantime, self-gratification is a great substitute."

I found this community after I eyed it on ash_808's community list... I eyed it a long time ago, but just now got around to checking it out. I've read & seen the Vagina Monologes (great show), and some of Eve Ensler's other works as well.

As for me and who I am, I'm 23, about to be a first-time mom, and plenty excited. I read anything I can get my hands on, and I'll ponder anything you give me to wrap my head around. I married a wonderful man who has encouraged me to love all that is great about being a woman, and I can't imagine, if any other guy were my baby's father, that they would do half as good a job of reminding me how special I really am for carrying this kid. I enjoy writing and photography, being a domestic goddess, seeking out the deeper meaning in the world around me, and just taking pleasure in the small things in life. My pet peeves are people who don't know how/where to park, people who throw trash and crumbs on a freshly vacuumed floor, customers who have no respect for the industry with which they are dealing, and general ignorance with no attempt to learn new things.

It's nice to meet you all. :)

Hello - My name is Rusty, I'm 27yo, married for 5 years and a mother of three. I've had a vagina as long as I can remember but only within the last few years have really been comfortable saying the word vagina. Don't know why, just had a problem.

Recently my daughter's been asking a lot about why she can have babies when she's older and not her brothers and once the baby's in your tummy, how it gets out. It's opened up a need in me to just plain get more comfortable with it. I love my own, don't get me wrong, but I'm not too good at TALKING ABOUT it with others.

I'd just like to express how grateful, relieved, and impressed I am to have found a community like this. I've been reading through the posts and the wonderful comments, and I gotta say this is one of the most supportive and understanding forums I've been to in ages. Kudos to you guys. =)

Hi Everyone

My name is Crystal, I'm 19 , straight and in a monogamous relationship for almost a year now. I new here (obviously! lol) I think this site is a great place, I've been reading around it now for a little while, and it's really opened my eyes. I come from a family that didn't really talk a lot about our bodies, so I've learned a lot already, from here, and from my bf. (He was shocked to learn that I've never masturbated...)

Now all I have to learn for now is how to start my own post thing...

cato 19th-Oct-2004 04:44 pm (UTC)
hello hello
i just joined vaginapagina and i thought i would introduce myself.

my name is cato. i'm 22. i'm from toronto ont. living in london, ont while i attend university.
i queer identify and am a big fan of vaginas.

i actually am immunology and microbiology major and i'm doing my undergraduate thesis this year out of a hospital here in the city. i'm working on trying to find a probiotic treatment for bacterial vaginosis. this means really that i'm looking at ways one could use so called "good bacteria" to help fight off and prevent invasion of "bad bacteria" which are generally seen in bacterial vaginosis infections. as an aside to this project, i am also looking a similar types of treatment for and prevention of urinary tract infections.

i also do the occassional session on std information and prevention for various clubs or organizations on campus.

so. yea. lots of my time is spent talking about vaginas

Hello! I don't understand how you people will know when a new person introduces themselves but oh well! ;)

I'm 22 and living in the Seattle area. I mainly joined this community to find an answer for my herpes-related question but through all the browsing and reading I did before posting, I can see this community will help me in many, many other ways.

I'm pretty much here to get info and support relating to abortion and Herpes Simplex 1 that infected my genital area. I have a feeling more issues'll pop up though, cuz that's just life! I'm fairly intelligent and a really caring person so I feel like this is a good community to give support out also, as I've been through a high amount of crap in my life. I'd love to be able to lend support is exchange for receiving some.

I'm just finding now that as I get older, I'm more into my body and taking care of it.

It's really really important to me that this community stay confidential and safe as I've had some issues with an internet stalker previously attacking my sexual history, among other things. I also haven't really done the "coming out of the abortion closet yet" either so... be gentle!

Let's jump right in. My name is Katlyn and I cam to this community through an older cousin of mine, mimeinashoebox. I'm fifteen years old and like the fact that there's somewhere I can go to learn more about my body without feeling rejected and/or lost. I mean, let's face it, I'm no expert:)

Not to sound like the dumb blonde right off, but is this basically our official request to be added?

Lately this community has been popping up on tons of my friends' journals, user info pages, etc. So, I decided to check it out. It looks really interesting, and hopefully I'll be able to learn something new. I'm 20, in a happily committed relationship, with no children (yet).
