Hello Everyone. I'm 21 years old and am having big pains and problems in my lower abdomen. I've researched many medical texts (formally a nursing student) and am very worried. Spent many hours in the ER in the last week with no answers. I'm thinking it's endometriosis and I really need a sort-of support group.

I'm Stephanie. I'm a sixteen year old high school student way in the bottom of New Jersey. I'm a musician and an avid reader and a vegan (mostly). I found this community from sextips. I like the positivity of this community and think it's great to see so many women embracing and celebrating their bodies! :)

Hello, My name's Jaimie. And I just joined. I don't really remeber how I found this place, just stumbled across it. But anyhow... I joined for a multitude of reasons. I'm 16, and I guess I'm just starting out to "explore" sexually, and I just wanted a positive resource, so I can stay nice and healthy :D

Oh, and I'm gay^^

Someone very kindly explained the Comm's policy on intros and directed me to the FAQ (which I am now reading!) so I shall re-introduce myself here:

Laura, 32, Scottish, getting to know my body again after avoiding it for a long time. Umm .. cat lover, book lover and celibate. Not sure if the last is by choice or not!

Thanks for having this Comm - I think it may be just what I need.

I've been a member of this community for awhile, and just now found this place to make an intro (unless I've made one already and my memory is just failing in my old age, which is 37.)

How I found VagPag... I got an IUD back in June of 2004, and was surfing the internet for information about it. Somehow through clever googling, I came across a post in the IUD Divas community. This was how I discovered LJ. IUD Divas referenced VaginaPagina, so I came on over. I love both communities!
kokoronagomu how do you do?12th-Sep-2005 05:04 am (UTC)
i do random searches and at times i find the user info page more interesting than the journals. on someone's info page this community kind of popped out at me. being the always extremely curious one i clicked on it. i found frank and intelligent discussion of feminine health issues.

i am 48, peri-menopausal(my mum was still fertile at 58), i am currently an unemployed cosmetologist, and masseuse because i chose to home-school my two children. i am incredibly interested in alternative medicine particularly in homeopathic.

the whole 'strange little girl' thing is explained on my user info. i'm an (almost 28 year old) woman. i live in florida. i worked at a womans clinic for 5 years and have been in the medical field for 9. i love to read/learn/write about sex, sexuality and all that it entails. so yeah - that's me =)

I've been a semi-active member of this community for a little while now, and you've answered my questions and such wonderfully.

I had my very first Pap Smear & Pelvic on Tuesday. I'd been nervous about it when I made the appointment (almost four months ago), but having read up on others' stories and other handy information found here, I wasn't nervous when I went in. My doctor was surprised and impressed, and talked me through it just as everyone said the doctor does. It was entirely predictable, easy, simple, and fairly painless.

So I just wanted to thank you all for that. You're a fabulous group of ladies and have prepared me well for many vagina-related things (and more).

That's all.

*waves nervously and runs away to lurk again*
obscuranb Who I Am3rd-Oct-2005 08:09 am (UTC)
Well, I'm a 26 Canadian Ph.D. Student who studies pregnancy in Canadian Women's literature. I found this through the hip_domestics community info page.

I don't have any kids, yet, but I am married and have plans in that area.

I'm interested in my vagina and have been an actress in a local university production of the Vagina Monologues.

I've commented in a few places, but never done up a post of my own.

I'm 27 and I live in Tennessee; I'm a library director and a church secretary. I'm working on my master's in English, but my goal is to be a Scary Cat Lady :P
sophia_corvino Say hallo to the little newbie!4th-Oct-2005 10:11 pm (UTC)
Hi there everyone! Just introducing myself briefly since I am new here. I am a 22 year old female(obviously), straight (sorta), and pretty open when it comes to my body and with sex, so it is a very warming thought to know there are women out there to share things with without hearing the word "gross!" all of the time.

I found this community when looking up menstrual cup forums, and absolutely love it! I look forward to getting aquainted with all of you!

Ciao for now ragazze!

ncredneck hi all..greetings from NC5th-Oct-2005 08:24 pm (UTC)
Hi everyone,I am 43 from NC.
Found this site while doing a search for a medical condition my husband might have. Loved the name of VP and had to know what it all about. Now I know and now I love it.
I think its great to have this community, where everyone can express their feelings or problems.I did my first post here on my very shy husband, the help I got was great, thanks all.
I also want to say to the VP Team, you are all doing a great job, and please keep up the good job, without you, this site wouldnt be so easy to use, and so informative.

Hello, I just joined. I love this community already!

I'm 26 from Cleveland. I can be a bit neurotic (hypochondriac) when it comes to female problems. That said, I consider myself a virgin, althought this http://www.livejournal.com/community/vaginapagina/5831715.html in the archives was very interesting. I always refer back to the scene in Clueless when Dionne is like "technically, I am a virgin"..

But anyhow, this community looks to be a great place!
ex_lovelybon869 Look at me! I'm new!13th-Oct-2005 01:53 am (UTC)
I'm Michelle, and I'm 25. Hi. *waves*

I've always heard bits-n-pieces about VP in other communities & some of my friends' LJs. I decided to join because, dammit, I want a place where I can talk about my girly parts without having to worry about offending anyone or grossing anyone out!

Plus, I'd like to be able to find a place where there are people who can either relate to (or even understand!) the fact that, hey, I don't need a man in my life in order to be a sexually aware, alive, and fulfilled woman. I'm a virgin, happy to be that way, and I'm not about to cry myself to sleep every night just because I don't have a boyfriend. Hell, I've got two hands and a friend who'll never leave me -- what need have I for a man right now? ;o)

Sometimes I feel "abnormal" because I'm not sexually active, and I guess that's when I need the support/empathy of others. I just haven't been able to find those "others" yet. And I'm hoping that (maybe?) I'll find them here.

Aaaand that's all, folks. Hope to get to know you all!

xo

i am 19 years old, getting married in 3 months and trying to live a more "natural" and "aware" life. i found this community by accident, while cruising random lj's.
quentinwrites Hi there :)21st-Oct-2005 07:27 pm (UTC)
Hi there everyone, my name's Anji and I'm 19. I was just doing some research on the MoonCup and their website mentions this community. I was thrilled to see the Vagina Monologues is part of your recommended reading, it's one of my favourite books.

I live in the UK with my partner Chris and our son Orion Taliesin who was born just six weeks ago. I feel like pampering my vagina because I made it endure so much. ;o) He's worth it though.

Oh, and I love writing - I have a poem about vaginas. They're kind of an obsession of mine, I think. I was so glad to find this place.

Other than my family and my girlie bits, I like science fiction, rats, philosophy and music.

I'll stop going on now and get reading the posts. Nice to meet you all. :D

I'm 19 years old and just always up for learning something new. My lover is stationed on the other side of the United States right now so I'm always searching for things to heat up our sex lives and I found this community through another community: sextips. I just figured that I ought to be more educated about my own body before trying to spice things ups.
jedifaerie Greetings! Long intro...6th-Nov-2005 04:07 pm (UTC)
I have been interested in women's health and have obsessed over the female body since college. I am 34 years young, married and have a wonderful 14 year old stepson.

After years of infertility I have become very disenchanted and resentful not only to my vagina, but to my womb. Test after test have come back GREAT! Husbands sperm count is great, my tubes are open, my periods are regular...but the one diagnosis we have gotten is that I have a "hostile environment". Basically, my vagina destroys the sperm. We laugh at it sometimes (you have to have a sense of humor when trying to conceive!) and my dear husband teases me about my fierce vagina. LOL Oh yes, it is fierce, isn't it?

Anyway, I stumbled across this comm. via apothecarium & am looking forward to learning more & sharing with you all.

Hi!

I'm from New Zealand. A couple of years ago I used to work for the family planning association here as a sex ed teacher in highschools, informing all those teens of their options. It was one of the best jobs I ever had. Our catch phrase was "my body - my choice". Which I still believe is true. Everyone should be free to educate themselves without shame or fear, and make the right decisions for themselves.

I found this site through random trawling.

I'm really glad that you are here, it's a brilliant community!
electronicolors 16th-Nov-2005 04:52 pm (UTC)
Hey everyone. I'm from the USA "heartland" ... boring ol' Oklahoma. I'm a student at Oklahoma State University, 19 years old, and I'm apathetic about my vagina.
I hate that it bleeds, but in the last year my periods have calmed out... plus I started using Insteads, which are a life-saver. They're all but eliminated my bad feelings about my vagina and my period. I feel cleaner, healthier, and just all around better. I don't get itchy and I don't have cramping. I just feel so CLEAN and fresh! I love my Insteads.
I have a very loving boyfriend (22, senior with an English major, philosophy/sociology minor) with whom I'm sexually active. He loves my body and all my girlie bits, utterly pampering my vag with kisses and nuzzles.
I'm here because its time I started being aware of what all goes down there so I can be safe, happy, and healthy.

So hey... I'm Bee, I'm seventeen, and I found this place through the twistings and turnings of the internets, and I fell rapidly in love.

Because I'm young, and because I feel very slightly weird asking my mother things (although not a passel of strangers...? odd) about my ladybits, I have joined this community in search of information. Avast!!

In other news: I dearly love my vagina, and for the time being, I'm going to be the only one who dearly loves my vagina. ♥
aeonsomnia Brief intro20th-Nov-2005 10:45 pm (UTC)
Aeonsomnia here, 28 year old woman, still alive & kicking:) I discovered this spot via the blog Egotistical Whining (I think the owner's one of your members).

I'm here to learn some new stuff re: the female reproductive & urological systems, and as someone who has PCOS, also hope to lean on Vagina Pagina as a support community.

Unfortunately, I don't have any news on the cool gynecologist front, since I'm one of the 40 million in the U.S. who's uninsured, but maybe my luck'll change.

Anyway, this finishes my intro :D
queendisko Hello :)22nd-Nov-2005 02:42 am (UTC)
I'm new, was lurking and I found this...I wish I had found this sooner.

I'm almost 30, going through a divorce, dating a superman and I have one child. I just recently had a miscarriage. I'm sort of reeling from that experience.

I have PCOS, and a tipped uterus. I also have a healthy love for monogamous, safe sex with one partner. I'm one of those women who has to be in a relationship for sex to be enjoyable. I can't wait to read about everything here!!
