Where is my period...

Hey everyone!

I'll make this brief...

My last period was on January 9th of this year.

My boyfriend and I rarely have sex, we try and do it only once a month and make sure that we are roughly doing it on only my safe days, thanks to a little app. On top of this, he wears a condom, I use spermicidal film, and he does not finish inside me.

This month we followed our routine, but when he pulled out for a position switch, he found the condom had come off, and was inside me. It hadn't been pushed in, so I'm lead to believe it only came off when he pulled out. He had not finished. We put on a different brand and went on our merry way!

According to my app, I'm expecting my period... errrrrrm yesterday. I had an incredibly stressful two days last thursday and friday in my clinical for nursing, but I'm not sure if that would affect my cycle that late.

I am going back to the hospital to finish off my rotation... and it will really suck to have this weighing on my mind. Are my pregnancy chances pretty high? Could stress play a role this late?

Help :(

It might not be anything (and since it sounds like you're trying to avoid pregnancy, I hope it isn't!).

My usually very regular period was randomly a week late last month for no reason that I could tell--I wasn't stressed, I haven't had sex in a few months, etc. And then it showed up.

So hopefully it's just one of those things. :-)

I hope it's on of those things as well. I feel like the chances are really slim anything went awry... but I've only ever been a week early!! So being even a few hours late throws me into a stress fit.

I like your doggie :3

Hee, thanks! :-) He's my goofy boy! (Although he's a couple years older now since that icon. :P)

Considering your boyfriend did not ejaculate in you, your chances of pregnancy are pretty low. However, if your period doesn't show up in the next few days, you may want to pee on a stick purely for peace of mind. Good luck!

I would say chances are pretty low that you're pregnant. It's possible to just be late, for whatever reason, sometimes. I'd take a test to ease your mind but I think it's unlikely you're pregnant.

No, your chances are really low. If he hadn't ejaculated when the condom failed, it's not very likely to be a problem. It's totally normal to be randomly late, even if you can't pinpoint a stressor that would have delayed ovulation. Certainly if you don't get your period in a few days, you might as well take a test, since it's not impossible. But random lateness is more likely.

I agree with everyone that chances are low, and remind you that stress can totally delay periods--causing more stress!

Also, most smartphone apps and other calculators aren't good at predicting ovulation. They only work from averages, and most people aren't exactly average. Do you want suggestions for resources on fertility awareness? I know people here like fam and Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

That would be awesome actually :3

Yes, your chances of pregnancy are very low given that he didn't ejaculate in you, and you were using condoms virtually the entire time.

Sometimes cycles are unpredictable, and that's actually very normal. Mine has never been like clockwork. I've had cycles last 3 weeks, and some 6 weeks.

Just try to relax and wait it out. If it doesn't come in a few days, go ahead and take a pregnancy test just to ease your mind and be sure. They say the best time to test for pregnancy is 19 days after the sex in question. Chances are, the day you go buy a pregnancy test is the day your period will start.

Still no sign of the aunt...

Thinking back earlier this month however, I remember thinking my tell-tale ovulation mucous was late too. I probably ovulated late.

I think this app has made me a little bit anal haha.

I feel normal. No pregnancy symptoms. Apart from my usual pms water weight and grumpiness :P
