Prednisone and light period?

I have been off and on antibiotics and prednisone for the last 6 weeks due to a bout of seemingly never ending bronchitis. I use the nuva ring and last week was my out week. My period was basically non existent. I read that prednisone can alter periods but seriously i had maybe 2-3 days of VERY minimal bleeding. Guesstimating from my menstrual cup i had maybe 2-3 ml the entire time. I havent had sex since all of this went on (well once now that I think but it was with a condom) so chance of pregnancy is minimal to null. I was just wondering if any of you guys have experience such a drastic reduction due to meds. Just for reassurance and to get other opinions and such :)

Thanks!

Last October I threw my back out for the first time and my doctors prescribed Prednisone. I never ended up filling the prescription but I remember the doctor advising me that Prednisone may have that sort of effect on my period.

My doc didn't really say much which is fine. I have plenty of drug books lying around to look it up but most just said 'irregularities.' I'm a nurse and know how most drugs affect others but i rarely take anything so I'm just not sure how it affects me lol. Kinda weird i know. But i just like hearing others experiences as well :)

I think it makes sense that your period would be lighter as it's a steroid. Had I not been in massage school at the time, I would've been more keen on taking it. But I was in school so I had access to a team of experts to the soft tissue injury that came from herniating a disc in my low back vertebrae.

I took two sets of Prednisone within the last month due to post-op complications. My period normally lasts about five days. However, while on Prednisone, it only lasted two days and was freakishly light. Honestly, it was the best period I ever had, but I was wondering why it happened. I figured it was just that I was under anesthesia recently, but the Prednisone makes more sense. That drug really messed up my system and made me crazy! So I guess we're in the same boat then.

In a way it makes sense since it decreases inflammation so maybe the blood flow to the uterus is decreased = less lining accumulation?? I dont know the actual ins and outs but again i just wanted reassurance that I'm normal!! It does look like we are in the same boat! And i can't say i was complaining about the light period...just worried me a tad cause that has NEVER happened ;)

Yeah, the anti-inflammatory properties totally make sense. Whenever I take ibuprofen for a few days before my period comes, it's a bit lighter, no cramping and overall more tolerable. So I guess since Prednisone is so strong it amplifies that effect and makes super wonderful periods.

It could be the combination of everything, both the predisone and the antibiotics - from my own experiences, I was on two different rounds of antibiotics last month and I had a rather non-existent period. (I can't remember if I had a similar problem when I was on prednisone - that was years ago, and I was pretty sick at the time, so my memories are a little hazy)

Thanks to the responses. It makes me feel better that no i am not crazy and thats just how it all affected my body. It was a nice experience (if you can call a period nice) it just caught me off guard :) maybe i will try the ibuprofen thing before my period if it truly makes that much difference!
