Period like cramps after sex.

Lately (within the last year or so) I have noticed I normally get cramps a few hours after sex very very much like mild period cramps.

I said it to a few of my girlfriends but they said they never noticed feeling anything similar themselves.

I can't say that I really noticed it much before but I have had sex only like 3 times this year very sporadically when me and my lover think its a good idea to get back together again.

Have or do any of you ever experience period like cramps after sex? (by after I mean usually when I wake up the next morning).

Also,
I found out recently that apparently there is some sorta of relationship between the size of your feet and the size of your pelvis. Did you all take this as a given that everyone knew?

I do cramping (and bleeding) often after PIV, but not the next morning. It's much more immediate, although it does last a while sometimes.

I get cramping and it can last for 24 hrs or so depending upon the.... intensity of the act (for lack of a better description?).

A lot of the times it feels like swelling. More uncomfortable than painful.

I've gotten this too, after particularly vigorous sex. I've read something about it being related to the penis hitting the cervix and causing cramps in the uterus.

I have never heard anything about feet and pelvis size!

That thing about the size of the pelvic inlet (or ability to have a vaginal birth) and your shoe size is a myth. There's a study from one of the midwifery journals, and another study in the BMJ about it if you want to look further. There are probably others, but those are the two I can remember off the top of my head.

Should a doctor, midwife or other health care provider try to tell you that there's a relationship between your shoe size and your pelvic inlet or your ability to have a vaginal birth, consider strongly finding another health care provider. Small feet are not a predictor of cephalopelvic disproportion, and the only truly reliable test for CPD at the moment is a trial of labor.

I would get crippling, curl up in a ball, cold sweats, diarrhea inducing, period-like cramps after I orgasmed. Clitoral orgasms, and even after masturbation. The more intense the orgasm the worse the cramps. My gyno and an internal ultrasound found nothing, and in the end the only thing that made a difference was to stop stacking my HBC.

Only after having ruff sex on top, it comes on a few minutes or so after I've gotten off...., curl up in a ball, hot and cold sweats, diarrhea inducing, nauseating period-like cramps in waves! The only thing that helps is an ice pack and sitting on the toilet till it passes. It carries on for like 15 min sometimes, with sweat running down my face. My boyfriends freaks out a bit, but once it's over it's like nothing ever happened....?

It's only really started happening in the past year.... Horrible :/

I have mild cramping sometimes after sex. Usually after more vigorous sex, like someone above said. Along with the cramps, which like I said are *quite* mild, I get nauseated, though. I don't know what it means. But it seems to be common enough after reading the comments!

1: Low-cervix sex always leaves me with cramps the day after, probably because it's bruised. When my cervix is nice and high and out of reach from being poked to death, I don't get cramps.

2: Nope, because I had never heard that. It's interesting though!

I only get cramping when my boyfriend finishes inside me. I'm not sure if that helps you at all.

As you can see from the responses, this is a phenomenon that can occur without any pathology - just as a consequence of rough sex. However, lots of gynecologic conditions can be aggravated by penetrative sexual intercourse. Not sure if this is the type of intercourse you are having, but penetration can cause pain in people with benign ovarian cysts, endometriosis, or yeast/bacterial infections of the vagina.

Of course, it could also just be a slight hormonal shift that causes it. If you are really being bothered by them, you should bring it up with a good OBGYN and they can help you rule out any physical problems.

Usually the cramping occurs because the blood that rushes to the area during arousal, causing everything to be swollen and engorged, leaves and makes everything shrink back down again. Also orgasms can cause uterine contractions (cramping), it's pretty common.

I can't help with your cramping question, but I'm curious about the origin of the foot and pelvis size thing. I have the biggest feet in the family and the smallest hips, and my mother has the smallest feet in the family and the biggest hips. It sounds like an old wive's tale to me!
