Chafing??!

Hey party people. I think I know what's going on here, but am a little upset and want to check in with you folks.

I went to spin class today in ill-fitting bike shorts. Lots of bouncing around, and the entire time I felt like the shorts were folding between my labia. Not comfortable.

Just checked things out and there are definitely red marks right where the shorts were hitting. The marks are on like, my clitoral hood and in between the labia majora and minora. They're not bleeding, but just look like raw skin. One mark is long from front to back, like where the fold was hitting.

What should I do?? Put a dab of Neosporin on it (just on the vulva, not in the vagina!)? Let it heal on its own? How long will it take?? Man, I was looking forward to getting laid tonight!

I suppose it could be possible that I had irritation that was only aggravated by the shorts/bike seat, but I don't have any other itching, burning or discharge, though I did have a brazilian wax a couple of days ago. I also have had a negative herpes blood test recently and am in a monogamous relationship.

Any advice???

Ice packs are a wonderful thing in this situation - some frozen peas work really well, in the bag, just sit on them for 10-15 minutes, and then off for awhile. You might also take an anti inflammatory, if you can, live Aleeve, to help with the swelling and inflammation. Good luck :)

oooh ice pack sounds really nice. And good call about the aleve. The entire area is a little swollen. I'm going to take some now.

This whole thing could be a lot worse, but it is not fun!

No, injuries to any aspect of the groin area really suck - I used to ride bikes a lot myself, and that was always the worst part!

In addition to ice and an anti-inflammatory (both good suggestions!), I'd try going to bed for the next few nights without underwear (that is, if you don't do that already) to avoid further irritation. And if you really have your heart set on sex, you could always try it with some extra lube...but be careful!

Luckily that area seems to be good at healing itself quickly. Personally I go for the LITHA (leave it the hell alone) method with most wounds unless I feel like it might be getting infected.

Try some of the cream they use for baby rash....it helps with the pain and chafing and it does ease everything and helps with healing.... I would forego the sex if possible...

I haven't had chafing in that particular spot, but when I get it on the inner thighs close by my vulva, I like to ice it, rub a little lotion/coconut oil on it, and lay around with my legs wide open. Oh, and no underwear while I sleep. It's usually bearable by the next day, and healed in 2/2.5 days.
