Stabbing pains in vagina/cervix during sex

This is sort of a strange situation that has never happened to me before, and I am wondering if anyone has any advice for me.

Last night, I was with my boyfriend, and we attempted to have sex. I say attempted, because it became so painful, that we had to stop. It started off ok, but as he progressed to deeper thrusts I began to experience deep, stabbing pains inside of me. It got to the point where if he went in further than a couple of inches, not even touching my cervix directly, I would experience pain.

Once that was done with, I had pains for about an hour afterwards, just from moving around. I took an Advil which helped them. Today, I have light cramps, but then again, I usually do a few days before my period anyway.

I am a bit premenstrual right now and I know my cervix is hanging a bit lower than usual, and also as much as I hate to say it I really wasn't overly into what was going on, due to the shifting hormones I presume. Despite that, I have been in that situation a few times before and yet I never experienced that kind of pain.

I also have an IUD, and was worried it might be possible that it is expelling? I have had it for 7 months. I also don't feel any plastic tip at the cervix opening, and everything seems to have settled down today.

What do you make of this? Could it have been that he was just too rough? Could it be because I am getting my period soon? Is it from the IUD?

Thanks for reading!

It could be a mix of all three -- the IUD may've been poking things a bit more because the cervix was low, and he was just a bit too rough for the combination... Or too hurried... If you get more aroused, then your cervix might lift a bit further up, out of the way. And then once your cervix was angry, your whole uterus was angry.

Oh, wait, reading everything -- you weren't really into it, you say? Yeah, lack of arousal, low cervix, possible IUD involvement making it easier to transfer "poking" feelings from the cervix to the whole uterus... I'd say that if you can't feel IUD bits, or the strings being overly long, that it's more likely to be non-expelling reasons for the pain, rather than expelling ones. But you may want to check iud_divas for more knowledgeable folk!

Yeah, the combination of all 3 is probably what did me in.

I felt so gross, too, with copious amounts of thick, white discharge blopping (is that a word?) out of me =/ It's almost like my body was saying 'NO SPERM'! Is this normal before your period? I have heard other girls say they get really horny at that time and I never do... even though the rest of that cycle I was an absolute fiend (and breaking out like crazy for about 4 weeks). Now, my skin is even settling down. Is my body just weird?

Thanks for your reply, you are a very helpful member here! :)

If 'blopping' isn't a word, then it should be, no matter what my spellchecker thinks. >_>

I suspect that discharge can be unique -- I don't think I get thick, white stuff (except as arousal discharge, really), most of the time. But sometimes discharge is just weird. Same with arousal -- sometimes I'm totally horny, and sometimes I'm totally not.

If you have discomfort, pain on penetration, and/or itchiness, you might want to consider the possibility of a minor yeast infection, which could alter your discharge... But otherwise? Bodies Are Weird.

I'm glad to have helped!
