tall women

So the last time I was at the gynocologist, my doctor was trying to get a pap smear, and remarked that, "The problem with us taller women is that our vaginas are longer."

Which was interesting to me, as I'd never heard that before. I guess it makes sense- if everything is proportional, then a taller woman should have a vagina that's a bit longer. Anyone know anything about this?

Very interesting. how tall are you?
zellion 13th-Sep-2003 12:52 pm (UTC)
I'm not that tall, actually- 5'8"

Very weird. 5'8" is still above average for a woman though. I'm about 5'10", my gyno never said anything about my vagina before. But i go in for my anual next week, maybe i should ask her. heh :)

I am 5'6" and 2 gynos have said I have a "deep" vaginal canal...so...I am not that tall and have a black hole between my legs :)

Figuratively and literally.

I wonder if it is true that taller women have "taller" Vs?

I dont know if it's true or not. I too have never bothered to ask my OB or NP about it. I do know that my NP told me during my exam the color and condition of my cervix and the cervical os (thats the hole that dialates). She also told me my cervix points a little towards my left leg, well the os does anyway.

How cool of a nurse practioner was she? She just told me all these cool things about my body. I felt so enpowered. And then she was like 'i hope you don't think it's weird that I'm telling you, but i think we as women should know as much about our bodies as we possibly can."

she didn't mention any black holes between my legs, though I have had someone change to a larger speculum before. By large, they could have meant longer. Personally, i did NOT want a longer one going in, it felt like it was going to stab my uterus before he changed it in the first place! lol

I have been told the same and I'm only 5'5".
babybloodheart 13th-Sep-2003 01:54 pm (UTC)
Well, it would make sense, I couldn't comment on whether that is true of me or not...

I don't know if it's generalized, but I know at just under 5', my vagina is definitely smaller.

Yeah, I'm 5'0" and I have an tiny little vagina. No guy (thus far) has been able to be fully inside me.

I've known of tall women with short vaginas.

So um
I don't know.

I guess there is an exception to every rule. I am 5 feet, and my doctor sometimes has a hard time finding my cervix because my vaginal canal is deep.

Taller women probably have very slightly longer vaginas on average--but only on average. It's just like with men and penis size: Big men are slightly more likely to have larger penises, but only on average. The actual size of the organ varies widely from person to person. Sounds like your gynecologist is talking out his/her hat.

I wonder...I'm 6'3" and the only thing my doctor ever mentioned was that my uterus was slightly tipped back but your entry will definitely become a question for me on my next visit :]

That's amazing. I wouldn't necessarily call it a problem.

I'm tall, 5'9.5'', and I don't think my vagina is really tall. I can easily touch my cervix. So maybe.. I don't know.

I'm a little over 5'9" and I have never had that comment...hmm, would be interesting if it were true. Of course, I did have my doctor tell me that my vagina goes a different direction then most womens! I've always wondered why my tampons would be shaped funny after I took them out.
